Measurement Science Research Program

This program supports research directed at meeting needs of other programs of the office for new instrumentation. The projects currently supported are the result of a redirection of the program that was effective in Fiscal Year 1995. The areas of emphasis are sensors, imaging chemical composition of contaminated subsurface environments. The program also funds four of the Environmental Management/Energy Research Collaborative Research Pilot Projects initiated in Fiscal Year 1996 as a prelude to the Environmental Management Science Program for which the Medical Sciences Division currently has the lead responsibility in the Office of Science.
