Dr. Millman is program manager for the Separations and Analysis research
area.
He joined the Division in 1990 and served as program manager for various
programs and as the Division's acting Director from September 1998 through January
2002.
During his first four years at DOE, he was on leave from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He had joined the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1981, following three years as a research chemist at
Unocal. His research was in catalytic and physical chemistry. While at Wisconsin he and his students pursued research that included NMR studies of alumino-silicates and environmental redox catalysis of ion
exchanged zeolites along with the synthesis, structure and properties of perovskite superconductors. He has taught a broad array of chemistry courses at university and secondary school levels. He obtained his B.A.
and M.S. degrees in Chemistry from Northern Michigan University in 1969 and 1972 and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Southern Illinois University in 1976.
