Allan H. Laufer

 

Allan H. Laufer retired from Federal service in January, 2003.  He received a Distinguished Career Service Award from the Director of the Office of Science which read:

 "In recognition of your consistent and unwavering interest in and support of scientific excellence for more than 38 years of Federal service.  In your own research on the chemistry of hydrocarbon radicals you have made significant contributions to our understanding of combustion and planetary atmospheres.  In your support of research in chemical physics, photochemistry, radiation chemistry and atomic, molecular and optical physics, you have lead a premier basic research program that resulted in three Nobel prizes during your tenure."
