Dr. Krause
is Program Manager of the
Atomic, Molecular and Optical Sciences
Program. He received his BS in
Chemistry at Yale University (1981) and
his Ph.D. in Theoretical Chemistry at
the University of Chicago (1987),
working with Steve Berry on the electron
correlation problem. He did postdoctoral
research with Moshe Shapiro at the
Weizmann Institute of Science, Ken
Kulander at Lawrence Livermore National
Laboratory, and Kent Wilson at the
University of California, San Diego. Dr.
Krause joined the faculty of the
University of Florida in 1995, where he
has been Professor of Chemistry and
Director of the Quantum Theory Project.
His research interests include quantum
control of atomic and molecular systems,
ultrafast spectroscopy, energy transfer
in extended systems, and molecular
electronics. Prior to his arrival at DOE
in 2007, he served for one year as a
Program Officer in the Theoretical and
Computational Chemistry program at the
National Science Foundation.
Dr. Krause
is a Fellow of the American Physical
Society. He was a Fulbright
Teacher/Scholar in Denmark, a Cottrell
Scholar of Research Corporation, and
received a Faculty Early Career
Development Program (CAREER) Award from
the National Science Foundation. Dr.
Krause is the author of approximately
100 peer-reviewed articles, and is a
member of the American Chemical Society,
