William H. Kirchhoff

William H. Kirchhoff retired from 40 years of government service in February, 2004.  He received a Distinguished Career Service Award from the Director of the Office of Science which read:

"In recognition of your outstanding contributions to science, both as a researcher in molecular spectroscopy and statistical methods in thermodynamics and as a manager for environmental measurements and chemical physics during 40 years of Federal service.   Your unwavering commitment to scientific excellence has resulted in a world-class research program focused on the fundamental science of combustion.  Your clear recognition of the connections between technology and fundamental research has significantly advanced the mission of the Department of Energy."
