Dr. Mary E. Gress retired after 25 years of
Federal Service and 27 years at BES in May, 2007.
She received a Distinguished Career Service Award
from the Director of the Office of Science which
read:
In
recognition of your outstanding contributions to
science as manager of the photochemical and
radiation sciences program during 25 years of
Federal service. Your unwavering commitment to
scientific excellence has resulted in a world-class
research program focused on solar photochemical
energy conversion and the chemical effects of
ionizing radiation. Your clear recognition of the
connections between technology and fundamental
research has significantly advanced the missions of
the Department of Energy.
