Proposal Preparation and Submission

University and Other Research Institutions:

    A listing of currently open solicitations can be found on the DOE Office of Science Grants and Contracts Website. Research proposals should be prepared and submitted in accord with the Application Guide for the Office of Science Financial Assistance Program. The guide also explains the proposal review process. The Grants and Contracts site also has necessary forms available online.

Other Federal Agencies:

    The proposal format that other Federal agencies should use to submit a proposal to DOE's Office of Science can be found on the DOE Office of Science Grants and Contracts Website.

National Laboratories:

    Research proposals from the DOE laboratories are submitted through the normal laboratory process as supplements to the appropriate field task proposals. A list of all Office of Science solicitations open to the Laboratories can be found on the DOE Office of Science Grants and Contracts Website.

Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs:

    The objectives of these programs include increasing private sector commercialization of technology developed through DOE-supported research and development (R&D); stimulating technological innovation in the private sector; and improving the return on investment from federally funded research for economic and social benefits to the nation.The DOE supports high-quality research and development (R&D) on advanced concepts concerning important mission-related scientific or engineering problems and opportunities that are likely to lead to significant public benefit if the research is successful.  Details on the topics of interest and the process for applying for SBIR or STTR support can be found on the DOE SBIR homepage.
