Views and Estimates of the Committee on Science for Fiscal Year 2001 (March 9, 2000)

The President's FY 2001 Budget Request was transmitted to Congress on February 7, 2000, and covers the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2000.  The FY 2001 Budget Request for BES (below) contains breakouts of the FY 1999 (actual), FY 2000 (estimate) and FY 2001 (request) Basic Energy Sciences (BES) budgets.  The document describes in some detail the mission and goals of the BES program, FY 1999 accomplishments, the research activities and facilities operations that the BES program supports, performance measures, and the proposed future directions of the BES program.

The total BES FY 2001 Congressional budget request is for $1,015,770 thousand.  First level breakouts for the BES subprograms can be seen by clicking here.  The complete budget request can be downloaded to the right.  The FY 2000, FY 1999, and FY 1998 BES budget requests are also available.
